## Description

I. ADVERTISEMENT FOR EXECUTIVE ARCHITECT UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed UCLA CHS Fire Sprinkler Retrofit - School of Medicine East 5th and 6th Floors project (Project #906032.01). The project will install fire sprinkler main supply lines in the public corridors on the fifth and sixth floors of the Center for Health Sciences (CHS), School of Medicine East building the proposed project construction area totals approximately 10,666 gsf. The new main lines would connect to existing fire sprinkler risers previously installed in the stairwells. This project is located in the School of Medicine East building, which is part of the Center for Health Sciences complex, located at 10833 Le Conte Avenue, on the UCLA campus. The proposed scope of work includes removing the existing ceiling, lowering the ceiling plane, and installing a new single-span acoustical ceiling to accommodate fire sprinkler main lines and heads; installing new recessed LED light fixtures and mechanical diffusers; and extending all existing ceiling devices and ducts to the new ceiling plane. The sprinkler main lines would be installed above the public corridor ceilings, with connection points every 20 feet, to allow for current, future, and ongoing laboratory and suite renovations in the project area. Construction costs are estimated at $3 to $4 million, and the scope may be prioritized or phased to align with available funds. Facilities Management Design and Project Management (FM/DPM) would manage the project under a delegation of authority from the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer. Project implementation depends on the availability of funding. The Design shall comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices. The selection committee will base its review of the Executive Architects' submitted proposals and selection on the identified Selection Criteria (Attachment A). The final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect is contingent upon project approval by the UC Board of Regents or their delegated authority. The complete RFQ packet will be available at http://www.uclaplanroom.com on Friday, October 23, 2026\. Responses to the RFQ are due by or before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2026\.
